upAsmahE - We worship
Ekadantam - the one-tusked Ganesha,
anEkadam - giver of many things,
pArvatIsutam- the son of Parvati,

nAkapatinuta varacaraNam - the one whose beautiful feet are worshipped by Indra ( the king of heaven),
pinAkapANi lAlita vadanam - whose face is caressed by Shiva (who holds the bow called Pinaka)
gajAnana vicitrAkAram - the one who has an unusual form with an elephant-face,
agajAnana kamala divAkaram - who is the sun to the lotus that is Parvati's face ( makes it bloom),
gurutarAntarAya shatadhAram - who is like a thunderbolt (that has a hundred edges) to even great obstacles,
gamitapumartha - who fulfils all the (four-fold) purposes of men (Dharma, Artha , Kama and Moksha),
mOdakadharakaram - who holds the Modaka (sweet) in his hand,
grhItaika vimshatyavatAram - who has taken 21 forms,
gIrvANAgrima pUjAdhAram - who claims the first Puja among all the gods,
gAndharvAdi vidyAdhikAram - who is an authority on all branches of learning beginning with music,

Note: gAnapatyam is one of the six faiths (ShaN-matam) established by Adi Sankara. It is the worship of Ganapati as supreme god. The other five are Saivam, vaishNavam, kaumAram, SAktam and sauram.
