tiru sannidhi - the holy shrine of
dEvAdi dEvan - the lord of the gods,
cidambara mUrtiyAm - who is the god of Chidambaram.

caraNam 1

(One should worship)
aindu karattAnai - the lord (Vinayaka) with five hands,
kArAnai mAmukhattu - with the face of a dark, cloud-like elephant,
kaRpaka rAyanai - the king generous as a Kalpaka (wish-fulfilling) tree,
mukkuRuNiyANai - (who is) offered the Modaka (sweet dish) made with three Kuruni (grain measure) of rice.

sEvaR-koDiyAnai - Murugan, who has a rooster in his flag,
dEvar siRaimITkum - who rescued the Devas from prison,
mElai vAsal vAzh - who resides in the Western tower entrance
sIrAr puliyUrp-padi - of the excellent Kshetra, Chidambaram.

singAramAna- in the beautiful
sivagangaiyil - Sivaganga tank,
vandu - having come
munbAgavE - before
sivakAmi sannidhi - the shrine of Goddess Sivakami,
seidu - having performed
pradakSiNam - circumambulations
pAngAgavE - properly ,

siddhargaL - mystics
paNiviDaiyOr - and attendants
tozha - salute (Him).

tirumUlattAnai - the one residing in Tirumulasthanam,
ciTTar paravum - which the Siddhas(mystic savants) praise,
pErambalattAnai - the lord of the huge dancing Sabha,
ciTrambalam ennum - which represents the Daharakasha (inner-space, inside one's heart),
ambala vANanai - the resident of the dancing hall,
aSTa dikkum pugazh - whom (the people of) the eight directions extol,
ANDavanai - the supreme lord,
tANDava rAyanai - the king of dancers
tillai - of Chidambaram.

(One should worship)
Anit tiruttErum - the chariot in the month of Ani,
nalla tiruvizhA - during the great festival,
narg-gOpuram nAngum- the four excellent Gopurams
nADengumE pugazh - which are praised everywhere in the country,
vIdiyum - the streets
tillai mUvAyiravar - (that) the three thousand Dikshitars
vaLar - reside and prosper,
tirumanjanamum - the Abhishekam
mArgazhi darisanamum - and the vision during the Margazhi month's festival.
