Meaning:
pallavi: Can there be another god like the SabApati of Cidambaram?

anupallavi: Can we get another merciful one like him on this earth?

caraNam: just once, calling on Siva of Cidambaram, is enough. do you have to do any other penance for ages? All the sages attained his feet, say the scriptures. Let us understand and listen to what Gopalakrishan sings.

There is a story associated with this song. Gopaalakrishna Bhaarati was visiting Tyaagaraaja, when Tyaagaraaja asked him if he had ever composed in aabhogi. In response to that query, Gopalakrishna Bharathi is said to have sung this krithi.
